Rebecca M. Pepl — New York & Vienna
Studio Prefacio

Rebecca
M. Pepl.

Spatial designer, photographer, and creative thinker. Based between New York and Vienna. Working at the intersection of architecture, interior design, and the image.

The
beginning.

Write about how Studio Prefacio began. Where did the name come from? What gap did you want to fill, or what frustration with how design studios work drove you to start your own practice? Be specific and personal.

A second paragraph on your background — where you trained, what drew you to architecture and interior design, how you ended up working between New York and Vienna. What does it mean to be based in both places?

A third paragraph on the philosophy of the studio — what you believe about how spaces should be designed, what makes good work, and what you want every client to feel when they work with you. This is the most personal paragraph — write it in your own voice.

How we think

What drives
the practice.

01
Curiosity before certainty
We start with questions, not answers. The best design begins with genuine curiosity about how people live — and a willingness to stay in the question longer than is comfortable.
02
Process as the product
How a project gets made matters as much as what gets made. We believe the thinking, the choices, and the conversations between client and designer are part of the work itself.
03
Restraint with intention
Good design is not about adding more. It is about knowing what to leave out — and making every element earn its place. Beauty and meaning are not opposites of simplicity.
04
Spaces for living, not display
We design for how a home is actually used — for the morning light, the way a room sounds when it is full of people, the worn edge of a surface. Not for the photograph.
05
Craft over convenience
We are deliberate about materials, makers, and methods. We favour things that age well — natural materials, considered details, and work made to last beyond the moment of completion.
06
The preface matters
Every project begins before it begins. The context, the brief, the initial conversation — these are not preamble, they are the foundation. We invest in the beginning.
